About Jae Mundt

Raised in a rural area where women and girls had little say in the matters affecting their lives, Jae saw women treated as second-class citizens. Feeling the unfairness, something sparked in her. She would take action. In her small high school, girls were welcomed as cheerleaders or pom pom girls, but not as athletes (other than volleyball). Jae worked doggedly with the principal, and eventually the school board, to start girls’ basketball. Despite vigorous attempts by others and a certain teacher to discourage her, she was successful.

A good hand on the family farm, and a passionate volunteer at local church youth groups and later in Mexico, Jae at one time took a sabbatical from her law career to serve on staff in children and adult ministries at her home churches. Jae also credits a series of jobs, including that of nurse’s aide and legal caseworker, as early influences shaping her life’s mission. After earning an undergrad degree in social work, Jae gained her Juris Doctorate at DePaul University College of Law. As an evening student herself, she saw the need to support other students in her situation. With the dean and other students, Jae launched the Evening Law Student Society.

It is her experience at the City of Chicago’s Corporation Counsel, as a trial attorney and legal counsel for the City of Chicago and its employees, that exposed Jae to career-defining experience in personal injury cases. Quickly becoming adept in all facets of pre-trial and trial preparation—including negotiating and settlement activities and witness preparation—Jae credits the staggering case load as the best teacher. There, she gained skills she still uses: effective interaction with judges and opposing counsel.

Time spent at Chicago’s Corporation Counsel and as owner and partner of her first law firm, led to a move to Colorado. Here she has lobbied for land ownership rights, worked on political campaigns and continued her sense of mission in children’s and family ministries. Her current expertise as a professional mediator may well have started earlier in conflict resolution among volunteer missionairies during several months in Baja, Mexico.

Today, as the owner of The Law Offices of Jae Mundt, she goes “all in” to win justice and fair compensation in Personal Injury cases. In Family Law, Jae guides clients through an excessively complicated legal system, while helping them navigate the tricky terrain of personal relationships. Her mission is to help families thrive, during resolution and beyond.
